Walked into my local Target and spotted the finally wave of Mattel’s Batman Unlimited action figure line with the Beware the Batman action figure (Retails for $16.99). This CG Animated version of Batman comes in Batman Unlimited style packaging.
His design is pretty accurate to CG animated show. To me though, it’s not Batman’s best looking figure. His proportions just seem odd with his thin arms and legs. His colors are so dark that its tough to see any distinction between the 2 blacks that he uses within his costume. He’s head sculpt is pretty good but I would have loved more sharpness to his bat ears.
He functions mainly with ball hinges for articulation which allow for 90 degree bending and 360 rotation. I’m never satisfied if a bend only goes 90 degrees because dynamic posing just can’t be achieved. Would have loved an ab crunch, ankle tilts, and bicep swivels.
The paint job is sloppy with the belt and the skin on his head sculpt. Come on now Mattel!?!
He scales equal to DCUC figures like this New 52 Batman.
This isn’t a must buy but maybe your only Beware the Batman action figure to get your hands on. I’m really hoping a Beware the Batman toyline launches next year, its really the only way the animated series will succeed.
